"I only paid 4.50 for a Hooker!"

My spring break at UCD started this past weekend, so my friends and I decided to make a short excursion to Galway before the Big Europe Trip. We bought the tickets, made the hotel reservations, and thought all was well.

As it turns out, although there is a Bus Eireann stop at UCD, and the Bus Eireann website says that the bus to Galway stops there, this is not actually true. We ended up missing the first two buses before we figured out that we had to take the bus to the city center and leave from the bus station there, which meant that we didn't arrive in Galway until the mid-afternoon, when all the shops were closing. Whoops! (little did we know, this would become the keyword for our vacation).

We walked around a bit in the city, had dinner, and decided to go to a pub and try the local brew. (Here we are enjoying a Galway Hooker--pleasantly nutty) We actually went into an awesome traditional music pub first, but it was full, so we tried this one, called The King's Head. There was a man running around in a Borat bathingsuit--not as fun as bagpipes, unfortunately, but the beer was good!

  1. Oh, this is so exciting! That door to the Claddagh shop is probably 20 paces from my old apartment! (I lived on Kirwans Lane, laughingly called "the medieval heart of Galway.") The King's Head is a great pub. Did you go to the Roisin Dubh or that AWESOME used bookstore that I tragically can't remember the name of right now?
